1. Re: Wild camping in and around Bergen. Wild camping is fine in wilderness and remote areas, but not in the suburbs of a city. Bergen suburbs spread out in a large area, wild camping for visiting Bergen is not practical. Much better to stay at a camp site, Lone camping is often recommended with good bus/train connections to get into the city.

Full disclosure here, we probably wouldn't suggest pitching a tent at this campsite, but it's a great place to park overnight and stay in your car. This is a free parking area on the hillside of Bergen overlooking the city below. We cycled from here to and from the city.
